"Stadt" (City) is the second studio album by the Richard Koch Quartett, carrying the fresh sound of the woods into the cities. Trumpeter Richard Koch, known from the bands of Nils Frahm, Jimi Tenor and the Beatsteaks, turned to nature for his forest-composed debut "Wald" (Forest); now the city draws him back. As a leader he fuses jazz with soul and dance music: the first single "In The Sky" mixes Afrobeats with urban jazz, and across the album the quartet shows, through songlike melodies and playful solos, how witty art and clever entertainment can become one. The line-up features Richard Koch (trumpet), Michael Hornek (piano), Andreas Lang and Igor Spallati (double bass) and Moritz Baumgärtner (drums). Nils Frahm praises "perfect jazz improvisation", while Bert Noglik writes: "I've rarely heard such joyful music."

Richard Koch is a trumpet player known from his work with big names such as Nils Frahm, Jimi Tenor, Peter Fox and the Beatsteaks. As the leader of the Richard Koch Quartett, he blends his wide range of experience into a sound that melts jazz into soul and dance music, with an all-star line-up from the Berlin jazz scene. After the success of his debut album "Wald" (German for "forest"), the album "Stadt" ("city") brings the fresh sound of the woods into the cities - as on the single "In the Sky," which mixes Afrobeats with urban jazz. His warm, singing trumpet and floating, groovy songs create smooth, uplifting atmospheres, reminding listeners that there is always sunshine even behind the thickest clouds.
