Uri Gincel Trio

Love Through The Stained Glass

Digital / Vinyl · #19

"Love Through The Stained Glass" is the second album as a leader by pianist Uri Gincel, a vital figure on the Berlin jazz scene. In the classic piano-trio setting, with Andreas Lang on bass and Moritz Baumgärtner on drums, Gincel moves between the heritage of the jazz standard and the sound of the classical piano trio, setting out from there in search of new forms, sounds and colours. Across six pieces, from "Rising Up" through the reflective "A Fainter Scent" to the title track "Light Through The Stained Glass", the trio unfolds a warm, lyrical yet exploratory modern jazz. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Sebastian Ohmert at Blackbird Studio Berlin, with artwork by Jack Snow and design by Tyoma. A finely crafted trio album, rich in harmonic depth and shared joy of playing.

Uri Gincel Trio

Israeli, Berlin-based jazz pianist whose trio blends piano-trio tradition with improvisation, neoclassicism and drone.

Uri Gincel is an Israeli jazz pianist, synthesist and composer, born in Tel Aviv in 1981. He moved to Berlin in 2009, quickly establishing himself as one of the city's defining jazz musicians. He shapes his Uri Gincel Trio with Danish bassist Andreas Lang and German drummer Moritz Baumgärtner; their music evolves from classic piano-trio roots into a rich tapestry of improvisation, neoclassicism and drone elements. "Love Through The Stained Glass", their second album, was released in 2022, searching for new forms, sounds and colours — grounded in jazz standards and classical piano-trio sounds, yet with bold melodies and a modern edge.
