SINGÜLAR

Digital / CD (Limited Edition) · XJM25007 · ca. 53:51

SINGÜLAR are three sound-seekers who first met during an artist residency in Dudelange, in southern Luxembourg: Pascal Schumacher (vibraphone, glockenspiel, electronics), Edward Perraud (drums, electronics) and Sebastian Studnitzky (trumpet, piano, electronics). Their self-titled debut album captures the trace of that very first encounter — raw, electric, unrepeatable. Here jazz is not asserted as a style but transformed as material: dissolving into ambient layers, into space and silence, into friction and pulse. Between the brief opener "Premier Matin" and the closing "La Fin d'un Monde" stretch expansive, freely unfolding pieces such as the eighteen-minute "Singülar" — soundscapes in which minimalism, electronics and improvisation merge, always with a subtle connection to tradition. Three distinct voices listening to one another, conjuring a singular, hovering space out of their shared search.
