Omer Klein

The Poetics

Digital (16-bit/44.1 kHz) · XJM26001 · 51:31

With „The Poetics“, pianist and composer Omer Klein expands his celebrated trio (Haggai Cohen-Milo on bass, Amir Bresler on drums) into an exhilarating sextet. Joining them are saxophone stars Tineke Postma and Omri Abramov, and Colombian percussionist Tupac Mantilla. The album is full of infectious grooves, memorable melodies and adventurous harmonies, carrying a palpable love for Brazilian and African musical worlds. Its eight tracks arc from „Compassion“ and „Plat Tunisien“ through „Among Lions“ and „Vento & Terra“ to the dance-like „Samba of My Own“. Between chamber-music finesse and physical playfulness, an expanded version of Klein's musical language unfolds – melodic, rhythmically rich and internationally connected. Released on XJAZZ! Music.

Omer Klein

Israeli, Germany-based jazz pianist whose sextet "Omer Klein & The Poetics" expands his trio with horns and percussion.

Omer Klein is an Israeli jazz pianist and composer, born in 1982 and raised in Netanya. He began on keyboards at five and focused on the piano at 13, studied at the New England Conservatory in Boston with Danilo Pérez and Ran Blake and later privately with Fred Hersch in New York; he has lived in Germany since 2009. In 2013 he founded the Omer Klein Trio with bassist Haggai Cohen-Milo and drummer Amir Bresler, celebrated internationally for albums such as the ECHO-winning "Sleepwalkers". In the 2024/25 season Klein was Artist in Residence at the Alte Oper Frankfurt, where he introduced his new sextet "Omer Klein & The Poetics" — the trio expanded by saxophone stars Tineke Postma and Omri Abramov and Colombian percussionist Tupac Mantilla. The self-titled album "The Poetics" was released in 2026, full of infectious grooves, memorable melodies and a love for the musical worlds of Brazil and Africa.
