Nala Tessloff

Daydream

Digital / CD / Vinyl · XJM23016 · 35:06

"Daydream" is Nala Tessloff's solo debut, not a cheerful reverie but a darker, more contemplative kind of daydream. In concise songs that rarely exceed three minutes, the album grapples with self-doubt, personal defeats and the certainty that some things never change. Its eleven titles run from "believe," "MANAU" and "2020" through "darkness," "away" and "Home" to "September," the title track "daydream" and the closing "be better," drawing an introspective mood between electro-pop, downbeat and art-pop. Tessloff produced the album together with Helge Hasselberg, with whom she also forms the duo Heartbeast, while mastering was handled by Chris von Rautenkranz (Soundgarden). Throughout, her voice stays at the centre, close, fragile and direct. A restrained, song-focused debut, released in 2024 on XJAZZ! Music.

Nala Tessloff

Berlin singer, composer and performance artist who calls her music a "doomsday soundtrack".

Nala Tessloff is a Berlin-based singer, composer and visual and performance artist. In 2019 she opened Berlin Fashion Week with a 30-piece orchestra and founded the Unspoken Consort with five early-music players, with whom she stages large-scale musical performances as singer, lyricist, costume and set designer, and director. Her compositions — which she casually calls a "doomsday soundtrack" — reflect the omnipresent violence around us, the violence we suffer as well as the violence we inflict every day, often unconsciously. The single "Daydream" was written and produced together with Helge Hasselberg and released on XJAZZ! Music.
