„I-95“ is the project of Ukrainian pianist Glib Svyrydov, who here assembles a quartet with Jana Kütt (vocals), Pauls Pokratnieks (drums) and Andres Alaru (bass). The band's story began on a cruise ship, where the musicians first met and where their collaboration quickly grew into a close artistic bond. The album pairs original compositions with inventive, idiosyncratic arrangements of well-known jazz standards – among them „Blue in Green“, „Blue Monk“ and „The Man I Love“ – and closes with „Stairs“, featuring saxophonist Toms Rudzinskis. Between Svyrydov's lyrical piano voice, the vocals and a finely balanced quartet interplay, the result is a modern, song-oriented jazz album that brings tradition and personal voice together.
