„Freiraum“ is the debut album of Die Therapie, a high-energy Berlin quartet that came together at the Jazz-Institut Berlin in 2017. Arno Grußendorf (guitar), Niko Zeidler (saxophone), Alex Will (double and electric bass) and Johannes Metzger (drums) move across the record between improvised jazz, post-rock and blues — driven by spontaneity, melodic grace, on-point compositions and intense interplay. The band drew attention early on: in 2018 it received a scholarship from Live Music Now Berlin and reached the final of the Biberach Jazz Prize, later winning second place at the Sparda Jazz Preis in Düsseldorf. Their influences range from the John Scofield Trio to Tom Misch and Chris Potter's Underground. The single „Permanentes Echo“ appeared ahead of the album on 29 March 2019. With „Freiraum“, Die Therapie deliver a statement that speaks to jazz connoisseurs and listeners well beyond the scene alike.
