Chasing Tales

TWIAD / BP (EP)

Digital · XJM21004 · 20:00

The EP „TWIAD / BP“ is a collection of songs reflecting on societal conflicts, fears and shortcomings. For Hamburg-based artist and songwriter Chasing Tales — who writes genre-bending songs somewhere between indie, folk and electronica, melancholia and wanderlust, darkness and light — it is a way of processing the current political climate and the crises we are collectively going through, as well as the urgent fight for social and ecological change. While the songs can at times be read as protest, even political and rebellious, and often sound sad and dark, they also tell stories of love and self-acceptance. The EP begins and ends with two instrumental pieces that frame the journey through these thoughts: it starts in a dark place and ends in light. Central tracks include „The River“, a tragic love story carrying an anti-war message, and the angry „Burn This City“. Chasing Tales returned to music for this release after a years-long hiatus.

Chasing Tales

A Hamburg songwriter crafting genre-bending songs between indie, folk and electronica that move from political darkness toward love and light.

Chasing Tales is a Hamburg-based artist and songwriter who writes genre-bending songs that sit somewhere between indie, folk and electronica, between melancholia and wanderlust, darkness and light. After a years-long hiatus from music, he left his job in advertising at the end of 2019 to create and travel. On his EP "TWIAD / BP," a collection of songs reflecting on societal conflicts, fears and shortcomings, he processes the current political climate and the collective crises of our time, while also fighting for the social and political change needed to save the planet. Though the songs can be heard as protest - at times political, rebellious, sad and dark - they equally tell stories of love and self-acceptance. The EP opens and closes with instrumental pieces, beginning in a dark place and ending in light: a reminder that through all the darkness there are moments and people that recall the beauty of being alive.
