Ride To Heaven

Digital (FLAC 96) / 12" Vinyl · XJM26006 · 43:27

On "Ride To Heaven", the Andrés Coll Cosmic Trio maps a cosmic journey through universal human themes: courage, nature's call, hope, farewells and the spirit of adventure. Andrés Coll, a young talent from Ibiza and protégé of pianist Joachim Kühn, establishes his idiom on marimba and piano (with castanets) through rapid-fire yet lucid phrasing, adventurous voicings and forceful accents. He is joined by Mateusz Smoczyński on violin and baritone violin and Ramón López on drums and tabla. The trio calls their shared sound "Avant-Groove", a bold blend of freedom, rhythm and musical depth, rooted at the same time in the folkloric sounds of Coll's native island. The title is an invitation to ride towards one's destiny with joy and courage, to fearlessly embrace life as a whole.

Andrés Coll

Ibizan marimba virtuoso whose Cosmic Trio fuses Balearic folklore and "Avant-Groove" into a cosmic odyssey.

Born in 2000 on Ibiza, Andrés Coll is a young multi-instrumentalist and marimba virtuoso who connects the folkloric sounds of his native Balearic island with a cosmic outlook. He began studying classical percussion in a local orchestra at the age of seven, while absorbing the traditional Ibizan Ball Pagès. His album "Ride To Heaven" is the official recorded debut of the Andrés Coll Cosmic Trio, in which he is joined by Warsaw-born violinist Mateusz Smoczyński and drummer-percussionist Ramón López from Alicante. Cast in his self-coined "Avant-Groove" style, the record unfolds as a musical and spatial odyssey through courage, nature's call, hope, farewells and the spirit of adventure.
