LITTLE HOME
“These are the songs that I’ve been composing in my living room studio for over a decade" - says Berlin based double bassist Paul Kleber, who is being well known for years beyond the city's borders as a touring musician, now appearing as a frontman for the first time with his new release, "Little Home".

For many years, Paul has been composing and arranging for ensembles such as Micatone, Lisa Bassenge and JazzIndeed - and he’s found often touring the world with Studnitzky, Jazzanova Live, the Moka Efti Orchestra and other notable projects. Now with his own record, “Little Home”, Paul enlists his long-time musician friends and collaborators to play along. The pianist and album’s producer Uri Gincel and the trumpeter Sebastian Studnitzky play throughout the album with Tobias Backhaus unmistakably on the drums. Here and there, we hear guest appearances by established names from the jazz scene. All of these musicians have been working together for a long time, and in these songs you can really feel it. Despite Paul’s contributions to his past projects , this record finally sheds light on his songwriting that could only be hinted at in his previous collaborations - how multi-faceted it really is.

In his album “Little Home,” Paul and his well appointed collaborators take us on an Odyssey of sorts into Paul’s four walls.
"A Little Loving", falls over us with a wild brass section; then we are rhythmically captivated (“Fourty”) , luckily we’re strong enough to swim against the current in “Poisson d ́or” but then put to the torture in “Mr Stringer”, just to be let go again in “Clouds”, and dream ourselves away (“Piedras”,) we jump off the sofa in “Gamechanger” - and when the album closes with the title track and the most delicate of all, Uri Gincel steps up to the microphone and he brings us home. These songs surprise, challenge, ask questions, stimulate; and even through the danceable, pulsating grooves, a sweet and intimate melancholy shines through that will have you begging - “Play it again!”
